hello

The LRM (Loiterers Resistance Movement) is a Manchester based collective of artists and activists interested in psychogeography, public space and the hidden stories of the city.

We can’t agree on what psychogeography means but we all like plants growing out of the side of buildings, looking at things from new angles, radical history, drinking tea and getting lost; having fun and feeling like a tourist in your home town. Gentrification, advertising and blandness make us sad. We believe there is magic in the mancunian rain.

Our city is wonderful and made for more than shopping. We want to reclaim it for play and revolutionary fun….

On the first Sunday of every month we go for a wander of some sort and we also organise occasional festivals, exhibitions, shows, spectacles, silliness and other random shenanigans. Please come and join us; everyone is welcome.

Please accept our apologies for the rather shabby nature of the blog at the moment; I am in the process of making it lovelier but I keep getting distracted, I'd so much rather be on the street than staring at a screen. I promise it will be sorted soon. In the meantime if you fancy a blether or a beer or just want to find out about what loitering can do for you please get in touch:

We hope to see you playing out with us soon xx

Rainy City Stories is worth taking a look, if you don't already know it. Stories, poems on a kind of interactive manchester map.

Hello there! I am part of the Manchester Women's Design Group, a voluntary organisation made up of all women from living and working in the Greater Manchester area. We work on gender equality issues and look at how our city is developed and planned.

We met a while back on a walk organised as part of a Cube exhibition on how 'yellow' (i.e. accessible) Manchester is. I remembered about your blog, and it's great!

Is it ok if we put a link to this blog on ours? ;) If so, leave a comment on any of our posts so I know I have the ok from you ;)

We meet on the last thursday of the month at the town hall... if you want to meet us, be involved, find out what we do or just say hello, come and see us!!

I suppose you are very much influenced by the Situationists. Famous for the riots of London and Paris.
I'm a bit of a Flaneur myself. A wanderer about with the old camera around Manchester. Not sure if once I photographed you all in Picadilly Gdns this summer. Was it with a Truth Speak hand held megaphone?
I'm a good watcher of people. X school teacher, unemployed like so many millions of others in Europe. About 28,000,000 at the last count. along with 65,000,000 in America.
I own a digital slr and currently doing an MA at DMU as Manchester University thought me to be crap I guess.
I do have leftwing values as as all good flaneurs should do. And I'm constantly looking for a 'Punctum'. Yes there is such a word.....could email you my recent essay for you along with my images about the Situations now.2011. It could be a rebirth of the riots to come coupled alongside the destruction of our modern rebuilding.
I have just had an MA exhibition in Leicester on this very issue......regards Bev Stein

How and where and when do you folks get together for a meet up? I know where MMU library is and the cafe next door to it. Would be happy to communicate one day.
